We have had a great weekend so far! Friday was Grandpa Rikli's birthday (#60) so we got to stay overnight with him and Grandma on Thursday night (first time ever away from Mom and Dad for Sam). Sam went back home on Friday at lunchtime to nap and see Daddy (he missed Daddy since he is such a Daddy's boy) and then Mom, Dad and Sam came to G&G's for cake and ice cream.

Giving Grandpa his b-day hug!

Silly boys...

We had to help blow out the candles since there were so many!

Playing outside...G&G have bags of pea gravel that Sam is supposed to be dumping. Grandpa isn't very impressed by his productivity though. He is averaging about a bag a month, but he does have a lot of fun playing with it!

Hmm, his low productivity could be based on the fact that he takes a lot of breaks!

Sneaking up on Daddy!

Saturday morning we went to the Mackenzie nature center before it got too hot. We were pretty much the only people there and got to see quite a few animals.

Sam really liked this owl. It was little and it was talking to us (upper right corner of the cage).

Check out our wing spans. I was very happy that mine matched the blue one!

Sam didn't quite understand the directions!

Saturday afternoon, Mommy and I went to the Flags of Freedom parade. We haven't gone to this one before because it is at 2pm so it is nap time. Sam stayed home and napped, and Mommy and I enjoyed ourselves. We realized as it was starting that we were on the wrong side of the street (along with a lot of other people) since Main Street is a divided street. Since it was just the 2 of us, we picked up our blanket and ran across the street. I had a great spot and got lots of candy. It was a great parade with lots of marching bands.

Acting silly...

These got out of order, but this was at the beginning of the Mackenzie center trail with Smokey the bear.

This was as close as Sam would get!
